14. Tees

 FAQ

All clubs with the requisite facilities should have back, forward and ladies' tees with a measurement from the Distance Point on each and a separate Standard Scratch Score. Committees should bear in mind the definition of Teeing Ground in the Rules of Golf which states: 'It is a rectangular area two club lengths in depth, the front and sides of which are defined by the outside limits of two tee markers.'

The tee markers should be placed in such a position that the player has the benefit of the full depth to which the definition entitles him.

Note: See also Decision 7(b).

To facilitate the use of the correct tees it is recommended that tee boxes or other objects in use to mark the teeing ground should be identified as follows:

Championship Tees - Blue

Men's Back Competition Tees - White

Men's Forward Competition Tees - Yellow

Ladies' Competition Tees - Red
